Brigitte Bardot: The Reluctant Goddess
Bardot made very few good films. She didn't even particularly like acting, but to discuss her solely in terms of the cinema is to miss the point.
In the late 50s, screens were dominated by US pop icons and Bardot represented an exotic European element. But Bardot grew tired of her public long before they tired of her, and from the world's greatest screen goddess, she became a virtual recluse, preferring the company of her animals to people.
From the little girl who dreamed only of becoming a ballerina, to the woman who embarked on an affair with director Roger Vadim at just 14, this programme reveals more about Bardot than she perhaps would like. The programmes features interviews with a variety of people, including her fist love Roger Vadim, Jean Luc Goddard, Camille Paglia and Jean Paul Gaultier.
