Global Beats

Global Beats is a half hour programme which sets out to look at life in a comptempary Cuban culture.

We explore this through the eyes of five to six Cuban musicians who work in the ever changing music industry. From a 22-year old self made rapper, Pando who makes music from his bedroom to Compay Segundo, a 92-year old musician who has preserved the clear freshness of an old musical knowledge.
We look at the influences of Salsa and Rumba in the popular music of today, from Rap to Rock.
Inspired by the legacy of the Buena Vista Social club, music in Cuba, and particularly Havana is not a matter of life and death, it's more important.
